Learn how Durham Farmers put food on your plate:

Durham Farm Connections, a volunteer-based organization, provides agricultural education opportunities for farm and non-farm communities in Durham Region to ensure the viability of the agriculture sector.

Through popular initiatives like a Grade 3 Program, a High School Program, an Open House as well as a presence at community events and county fairs, Durham Farm Connections digs deep for a wide, meaningful reach in agriculture education.

On April 7th, 8th, and 9th, they will be hosting their annual Grade 3 Event in conjunction with the Open House.

Now in its 10th year, the Grade 3 event sees over 1,200 students rotate through 8 different agriculture-themed stations that include live animal displays and hands-on demonstrations by local farmers.

It’s a perfect opportunity for young students to engage with their food and farming community, and learn about where their food comes from. The program also aligns well with the science, health and social studies curriculum for grade 3 students.

The public open house will take place on April 8th, from 4:30 p.m. –  8:30 p.m.
