‘Before the Plate’ screening in Hamilton

Monday, October 22, 2018

As part of the City of Hamilton’s inaugural Food Literacy Month, the Public Health CDP RDs and the Hamilton Food Advisory Committee are hosting a community screening of Before the Plate on Friday, October 26, at 7 p.m. at The Zoetic (526 Concession Street, Hamilton ON).

Before the Plate is a feature-length documentary that highlights Chef John Horne from Canoe Restaurant as he follows various foods from farm to plate. The film attempts to close the gap in perception between the urban consumer and farming in Canada, and follows food staples of the Canadian diet all the way from the farm to the harvesting and processing operations, showcasing the final product at Canoe in Toronto.

Following the film, there will be a panel discussion with a local farmer, chef and food educator.

Tickets are $5.
